LACC vs Antelope Valley College
Story
posted on: 2/6/07
LA
City 4, Antelope Valley College 13
Fri. Feb. 2
In
a hot and cold first inning, the game was essentially decided.
The Cubs opened the top of the inning with two runs. However,
the scoring cruise quickly ceased in the bottom of the first as
AVC scored seven runs. The Cubs added to their problems by walking
seven batters and giving up four more hits in later innings.
Freshman
shortstop Selwyn Brandon Young was 2-for-3 but left the game early
after being struck by an errant pitch on a wrist. Young is indefinitely
out of the line-up while he recovers which is a blow to the Cubs
offense. He was hitting .428 after two games with an "on
base" percentage of .500 and playing solid defense at shortstop.
Sophomore
outfielder Kennedy Kimbell hit an RBI triple and Jefferson stroked
an RBI double. Leary also hit a double and was 2-for-2 at bat.
LA City had 10 hits on the day.
