Update on the Lady Cubs

The Lady Cubs participated in the South Coast Conference Track & Field Preliminaries last week at Cerritos College. The "Prelims" sort out the best of the SCC and invite those teams or individual athletes to the South Coast Conference Finals.

Freshman Maritzela Barakat competed in javelin and recorded a throw of 65'11". This was ninth best overall in the 13 person field, but it failed to qualify her for the SCC Finals.

Freshman Ingrid Douglas recorded a distance of 11'11.73" in the long jump to finish 7th in the 10-person field. She also competed in the 100 meters with a time of 16.43 seconds.

Barakat then competed in the 400 meters but failed to qualify for the Finals after running a time of 71.40 seconds.


Sophomore Alma Ramirez clocked a time of 2:58.84.minutes in the 800 meters, but Barakat shined in this event. Barakat ran a personal best of 2:32 which was 6th overall. That time advanced her to the SCC Finals this Friday at host Cerritos College.
